From November 25 - December 4, at the 23rd Annual Festival of Trees, the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation will celebrate “A Spirit of the North Christmas” and 25 years of providing the best of care to our community and region. The 10-day Festival of Trees is Spirit of the North’s most significant annual fundraising event, with proceeds allocated to fund medical equipment, education and enhancements to healthcare in Northern BC. Over half a million dollars was raised during last year’s event, and in 23 years more than $4 million has been raised through the Festival for healthcare in the North.
“This year’s Festival of Trees is taking on a northern Aurora Borealis theme,” event coordinator Shirli-Gene Sadowick said. “This is a milestone year for Spirit of the North as they mark 25 years of excellent work in our community, and we will be celebrating that achievement throughout the Festival.”
Planning for the Festival of Trees is in full swing as businesses and community members plan their big trees, little trees and wreaths for display and auction. All of the usual favourite events are making a return this year, including the Fashion Show, Senior’s Lunch and Tea, family-focused breakfast and brunches, the Dance & Dine event for business and community groups, and the Gala Fundraising Auction.
New this year, Dunkley Lumber will present a Holiday Dinner and Dance, featuring a turkey dinner and live music from local favourite Cariboo Thunder. The Gala Fundraising Auction will take on an updated format with the addition of an exclusive silent auction and a dance to follow the live auction portion of the evening.
Event tickets are on sale now at the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation office. Select event tickets are also on sale through Central Interior Tickets (tickets.centralinteriortickets.com ).
